Women Access To Education- अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला वर्ष पर ....

आज अंतराष्ट्रिय महिला दिवस है - ८ मार्च २०१०.

मेरे लिये ये एक खास दिन यूं है, कि दुनिया की आधी आबादी को समर्पित है यह दिन, और मेरा जो भी कुछ वजूद है आज , वह मेरी मां की वजह से है, और मैं इस बात को आज गर्व के साथ महसूस करता हूं, कि पिछले हज़ारों वर्ष से हम अपनी संस्कृति, हमारे मूल्यों और सभ्यता को इतना विकसित पा रहे हैं, वह केवल महिलाओं की वजह से है.

दुनिया की हर मां एक शिक्षिका है, भले ही वह शिक्षित हो या अनपढ़.

लेकिन यह बडा ही दुख का विषय है की आज पूरे विश्व भर में शिक्षा के अनुपात में महिलायें, पुरुषों से पिछडी हुई है. भारत में मात्र ६५% महिलायें शिक्षित हैं,(पुरुष ८०%).

अभी पिछले हफ़्ते, कॊलेज से मेरी पत्नी नेहा का फोन आया कि उसे Indian Institute of Management (IIM, Indore) से आज के दिन महिलाओं की शिक्षा पर बोलने हेतु आमंत्रण दिया गया है,एक शिक्षाविद के तौर पर, तो मैंने तुरंत उसे स्वीकार करने को कहा, हालांकि हमारे बेटे अमोघ की वार्षिक परिक्षा आज ही से शुरु होनी थी,और वह थोडा़ चिंतित थी.

तो उसके लिये जब उसने विषय की तह में जाकर जानकारीयां एकत्रित करना शुरु की और मेरे साथ शेयर करना शुरु किया तो मैं हैरान रह गया!

हालांकि नेहा का पेपर अंग्रेज़ी में पढा गया, मैं उसमें से कुछ जानकारीयां आपके साथ शेयर करना चाहूंगा:

Friends, It is proven fact that presently half of this global population is living in a state of disparity in all Socio-Economic Areas, and is lagging far behind men in terms of economic & political power.

As a civilized society, it is certainly our concern today that without their engagement, empowerment and contribution, we can not hope to effectively meet challenges nor achieve rapid economic Progress in this country. Hence, it should be a commitment from all socio- political & Educational fraternity to plan a suitable strategy to bridge this gap of disparity.

The greatest single factor , which can incredibly improve the status of Women in any Society is EDUCATION.

Low level of Literacy at all levels not only has a negative impact on Women’s lives , but also on their families’ lives. This surely affects the Economical Development of Country.

Incidentally, Education would certainly become a powerful instrument of Social, Economical & Cultural Transformation of our people Men & Women. This will also help accelerating process of Modernization, to cultivate high standards of Living, with Moral & Spiritual Values.

So, when Women gain access to education, they increase their chances of participation in Labour Market, improving health & wellbeing of their families. This will ensure increasing financial independence & participating even in Political System.

This can only happen when women have improved access to Education.

इस बात को प्रतिपादित करते हुए कुछ जानकारीयों कों (Facts & Figures) रखा गया और फ़िर इस चुनौती को स्वीकार कर अलग अलग स्तर पर सरकार, शैक्षणिक संस्थाओं, NGOs, एवम अन्य माध्यमों की मदत से ये कैसे सम्भव हो सकेगा उसपर सिलसिलेवार प्रकाश डाला. समापन में...


To conclude, I do not wish to paint a total dark picture here. Women have certainly proved their excellence , intelligence, & leadership in all spheres of Life. Today’s women is a SUPERWOMEN in real senses, and currently occupying TOP POSITIONS in all fields.Today women are more aware of their role and contribution in nation Building, and wish to work hard to raise level of Living Standard of herself and family.

However, it is still not enough and hence through this single point agenda for Women empowerment thru Education, we can achieve our goal for better economic health of family & Nation. This will ensure creation of opportunities in High end jobs significantly , sufficiently backed by educated Work Force of women for overall development of India’s Future.


In other words, educating girls is a Most Important Investment in the world, is how much they give back to their families, society and Nation.


नेहा नें इस विचार गोष्ठी का समापन किया गया संस्कृत के इस श्लोक से:

यत्र नार्यस्तु पुज्यते
रमंते तत्र देवता ...

मुझे याद है, कि आज से कई सालों पहले जब नेहा शादी हो कर हमारे घर आयी थी तो वह B.Pharm. में Gold Medalist थी , और Post Graduation और Ph.D. करना चाहती थी. मगर एक पुरुष की टिपीकल मानसिकता लेकर मैने उससे परिवार की ओर समर्पण चाहा था. उसनें चुपचाप मान भी लिया.

आज इतने सालों बाद देखता हूं,कि कैसे मुझे अकल आयी, (देर आयद दुरुस्त आयद), और मेरे बच्चों और मां पिताजी की सेवा करते हुए कैसे उसनें यह सब किया , और आज मुझे एक साथ शर्म और गौरव का अनुभव करा गयी वह.

मगर अब मैं अगली पोस्ट में ज़िक्र करूंगा, एक बहुत ही बडे विरोधाभास की.

मेरे यहां नेहा के कॊलेज जाने की वजह से अमोघ के लिये एक आया रखी हुई है. अंतरराष्ट्रिय महिला दिवस पर आज सुबह उसके पति की उसे प्रताडित करने के कारण महिला थाने में पेशी हुई थी. कुछ रोशनी उसकी ज़िंदगी पर, और उससे जुडी हुई मेरी एक दीदी की जीवनी पर जिसनें सन १९७५ में अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस पर काठमांडु भेजे गये सबसे पहले भारतीय महिला दल का नेतृत्व किया था.
